I am going to be changing up how I do reviews to be more of a style that I would want to see in reviews. The website is “common” touch of fantasy and with that I want to be more simplistic in my approach to reviewing fantasy literature. Tell you the information that needs to be told in the most simple way, and fastest possible.
This will be the new format:
Small over-all blurb
Pros List – The things this book does the best.
Cons List – The things that this book might not do that great.
Similar reads – The books that are most similar to this book.
Then the following will be rated 1-5 with 5 being the best:
Plot – A very short summary of the plot and why it is rated the rating it is.
Characters – The good and bad things about the characters and why it is the rating it is.
Setting/World-Building – How interesting, imaginative, and descriptive the setting is and why it is rated the way it is.
Writing style – The strength of the prose and why it is rated the way it is.
Emotional/Intellectual factor – The emotions that a book got from me or the intellectual factor that impacted the way I see the world and myself.
A perfect score with all 5 is 25.
A score above 20 will result in a 5 star rating.
A score above 15 will result in a 4 star rating.
A score above 10 will result in a 3 star rating.
A score about 5 will be a 2 star rating.
A score below 5 will be a 1 star rating.
This will allow me to give more exact ratings, make a format that I would want to read, and let people look at the review quickly to gain a lot of information without having to read the entire review if they don’t want to.
